PUR Scientific Week 2025: Call For Abstracts

Theme: Generative AI in Education: Rethinking Quality in Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Research—Policy, Ethics, and Innovation

The scientific week is an annually organized conference on a given topic where researchers from different discipline present their research findings. The topic of this year focuses on generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

1. Background and Context Specification

The ubiquity of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others has reshaped how knowledge is produced, accessed, and evaluated. These tools are increasingly being integrated into classrooms, research environments, and policy frameworks, offering unprecedented opportunities for enhancing educational delivery, personalizing learning, accelerating research, and automating assessments. Arguably, generative AI holds immense potential to reshape traditional paradigms of teaching, learning, assessment, and research. It offers unprecedented opportunities for personalized learning experiences, automated content creation, intelligent tutoring systems, enhanced research methodologies, and streamlined administrative tasks.

However, these advancements also raise critical concerns related to academic integrity, data privacy, equity, teacher roles, and ethical governance. Questions arise regarding the quality and integrity of educational processes and outcomes. As generative AI tools become embedded in the educational ecosystem, it is urgent and necessary to rethink what “quality” means in teaching, learning, assessment, and research. What values guide the integration of these tools? How can educational institutions and educators harness innovation without compromising educational ethics or deep learning? What policies are needed to balance innovation and accountability? Consequently, this conference seeks to foster a comprehensive reflection on both the immense

opportunities and the significant challenges presented by generative AI in education, with a particular emphasis on rethinking and ensuring quality across all its facets.

2. Objectives

The purpose of this conference is to critically reflect on the current opportunities and challenges presented by Generative AI in the process of rethinking quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and research within a rapidly evolving educational ecosystem. Specifically, the conference intends to achieve the following objectives:

  • Discuss the current empirical, conceptual, and theoretical evidence regarding the impact and integration of Generative AI in diverse educational settings and disciplines.
  • Foster interdisciplinary dialogue on how AI reshapes educational quality and standards.
  • Inform policy and practice with evidence-based recommendations on responsible and ethical use of AI.
  • Encourage local and global collaboration in research and innovation related to AI in education
